We’re deprecating Paragraph’s membership features, including paid subscriptions, gating features, and token-gated memberships. These features will be discontinued on Wednesday, November 13th.
While these changes will not impact any existing paid subscriptions or token-based memberships, these changes will impact any post with a gate.
By default, all gated posts will move to your Archive to avoid making the gated sections available to all readers.
However, you will have the option to remove the gate on all your gated posts and publish them in full on your publication. You will see this option in your writer dashboard or you can send a note to [email protected] expressing that you would like to remove all gates on your writing.
Below are more details on these changes.
What Does This Mean for Your Existing Gated Posts?
While this change will not impact any existing paid subscriptions or token-based memberships, these changes will impact any post with a gate, including posts that have sections only available to paid subscribers, token-holders, or free subscribers.
We understand that this change may impact how you engage with your audience, and we don’t take that lightly and apologize for any inconvenience.
To make this transition as smooth as possible, we’re giving you the option to decide what happens with your gated writing:
Please note: The option to remove gates is a bulk action, meaning your choice will apply to all gated posts. If you want to handle individual posts differently, you’ll need to do so in your Archive.
Why are we making this change?
Over the past few years on Paragraph and Mirror, we’ve seen that readers love collecting posts. By focusing on making collecting even more compelling, we’re confident we can amplify this behavior and help writers monetize more effectively.
At the same time, our membership and token-gating features haven’t gained as much traction. By simplifying our product and focusing on collecting, we believe we can increase the value of the Paragraph ecosystem and help writers better connect with their readers.
