Overview
As we move forward with changes to simplify Paragraph, here are answers to common questions about the deprecation of our paid membership and token-gating features, effective Wednesday, November 13th.
Please note: These changes do not impact your free subscriptions or your email list — readers will still be able to subscribe to your newsletter for free, and you will continue to have full ownership of your email list.
1. Will the subscription page (e.g., paragraph.xyz/@publication_name/subscribe) be removed?
No, this page will still exist for free subscriptions (example below).
However, the option to purchase paid subscriptions on the following page (see below) will no longer be available.
If you would like to continue accepting new paid subscribers, you’ll have to accept those payment outside of Paragraph. You will most likely be able to do this using Stripe through your Loop dashboard and/or using links to Stripe via Connect, Checkout, or Payment Links.
You could include links to these paid subscription or membership products in your welcome email, in your newsletter posts, or on an About page for your publication.
If gating is essential for your writing, you may consider using Bonfire.
2. Will the “Subscribe” button be removed?
The “Subscribe” button will remain but will now only support free subscriptions.
3. What happens to existing “Subscribe” buttons? Will I need to remove them manually?
No action is needed on your part. The “Subscribe” buttons will continue to function for free subscriptions, allowing readers to subscribe to your newsletter for free.
4. What will happen to my existing gated posts?
